Timothy (Tim) Ray Risner Sr., 61, a beloved resident of Ethridge, TN, passed away on July 19, 2025, at Maury Regional Medical Center surrounded by the love of family and friends.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather and devoted public servant.  Tim will be deeply missed by his family, friends and countless people whose lives he has touched. Born in Giles County to Marvin Ray and Barbara Risner.  Tim grew up alongside his two siblings and numerous cousins running the ridges of Liberty Hill.  He married his high school sweetheart, Wanda, with whom he shared an enduring 41-year marriage marked by 2 beautiful sons and a lifetime of joy watching them grow into the amazing men, husbands and fathers they are today.  His years were further blessed immensely by the addition of each of their 4 grandchildren.  Being Paw Tim filled a special place in his heart and was his greatest delight.

For 27 years, Tim served as a county commissioner for Giles County, where he worked tirelessly to enhance the lives of his fellow citizens. His commitment to the community was evident in every decision he made, always prioritizing the needs of the county he loved so dearly. Tim's passion for public service extended beyond his role as a commissioner; he was a devoted volunteer with the Giles County Rescue Squad for over 40 years, where he also served on the board of directors, embodying the spirit of selflessness and dedication.

Tim's professional journey included a 35-year tenure at Fafnir/Timken, followed by a rewarding four years working alongside his son, Justin, at Risner Construction, before he became disabled. His work ethic and commitment to his family were evident in every aspect of his life.

A proud lifelong resident of Giles County, Tim's Christian faith was a cornerstone of his existence. As a member of Liberty Hill Baptist Church, he often reminded those around him that "God is in charge" a belief he lived out daily. His faith was what provided him with the strength and guidance he needed to face life’s battles and uncertainty.

Beyond his public service, Tim found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He cherished his family deeply, relishing every moment spent with them. Tim had a profound love for horses and the great outdoors, finding peace and contentment in the beauty of nature. He was a man who worked with his hands and mastered this ability from the time he was a child working alongside his father.  Tim took pride in the nature around him and found peace and contentment in the beauty of the natural world that surrounded him.

Tim is survived by his devoted wife Wanda Vick Risner; his mother, Barbara Risner; his sons, TR (Karlyn) Risner of Opelika, AL, and Justin (Ashley) Risner of Pulaski, TN; and four cherished grandchildren, Coldan, Makinley, Parker, and Hadley Risner. He is preceded in death by his father, Marvin Ray Risner; his brother, Craig Risner; his sister, Renee Rutherford; and his lifelong friend, Joe Pierce.

Visitation will be held at Carr and Erwin on July 23 from 4 PM to 8 PM and July 24 from 10 AM to 12 PM. A processional will follow at 12 PM to Liberty Hill Baptist Church, where Tim's life and legacy will be celebrated in a funeral service at 1:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Rose Hill Rescue Squad, 1755 Rose Hill Road, Pulaski, TN 38478.

Tim's spirit will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his legacy of service and love will continue to inspire all who knew him.
