James E. "Bubba" Brown, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on March 14, 1937, in Giles County, TN, to Julius Pinkney and Dimple Minitra Brown, James lived a life marked by devotion to his family, his work, and his community.
James, affectionately known as Bubba to his friends and loved ones, was a man whose presence was felt deeply by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy. He was a dedicated worker, having retired from Murray Ohio, where he was highly respected for his commitment and work ethic.
Bubba was deeply involved in his community as a proud member of the New Prospect Church of Christ, where he served as an Elder. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him in his daily actions and providing comfort and strength to those around him. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for hunting and fishing, activities that brought him not only joy but also a sense of peace and connection to nature.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Dimple Brown; his brothers, George Franklin Brown and John Wayne Brown; and his sisters, Betty Jo Kimbrough, Julia Glossop, and Rosemary McConnell. His memory will be forever cherished and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
Bubba's legacy continues through his beloved wife of 64 years, Viva Sue Brown, who stood by his side through life's many journeys. Together, they raised a family that includes their sons, David Anthony Brown and Scott Brown (Sharon). He was a proud grandfather to Seth Brown, Sam Brown (Katelyn), Sara Jacobs (Mason), and Sid Brown (Emilia), and a doting great-grandfather to Rory Brown. His sisters, Nancy Willoughby of Gallatin, TN, Barbara Green of Lawrenceburg, TN, Anita Woods of Spring Hill, TN, Elaine Allison of Columbia, TN, Linda Polly of Pulaski, TN, and Diane White of Pulaski, TN, will miss his guidance and warmth.
James "Bubba" Brown's life was a testament to the values of family, faith, and friendship. His legacy is one of love, laughter, and the countless memories shared with those who were fortunate enough to cross his path.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Neal Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Friday, November 21, 2025, with Jeff Smith and Rodney Livingston officiating.
Interment will follow at Westside Cemetery in Leoma, TN with full military honors.
