Glen Douglas “Doug” Young, age 63 of Pulaski, passed away Thursday July 17, 2025 at his residence.
Doug Young was born in Nashville, TN on March 7, 1962 to Glen and Betty Watson Young. Doug was a child at heart with a loving soul who found joy in everything he did whether it was visiting friends in the community at Five Points Market, talking on the phone with Aunt Mary Ann, hanging out with his housemate Ron, spending time with his nephew and great nieces, or counting his $1.00 bills. He had a sweet tooth which led him to loving his vanilla milkshakes, cakes, and sodas… especially Sundrop and Dr. Pepper. When Doug wasn’t visiting his community, he spent his time watching The Price is Right, Gunsmoke, and Bonanza. Doug was also a faithful member of St. Andrew Community Church and found happiness in encouraging others there. Doug is preceded in death by his parents Glen Evans Young and Betty Ruth Young.
Visitation will be from 1:30-3:30pm on Friday July 25, 2025 with Funeral Services starting 3:30pm at Carr and Erwin Funeral Home. Interment will be in Pisgah Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that Memorial Contributions be made to The Special Olympics.
Doug is survived by nephew Justin Tyler Young and wife Kaitlin along with their children Elaina and Mercy Young all of Pulaski; caregiver Michelle Banks of Pulaski; housemate Ronald Beard of Pulaski; brother Donald Maurice Young (Mitzi) of Nashville; everyone at the Progressive Directions family; and many loving cousins, church family, and community friends.
