Gina Tidwell Harrison passed away in her home peacefully after an almost 20 year journey trying to overcome her illnesses and injuries that were ultimately due to Muscular Sclerosis and Ankylosing Spondylitis. Up until she was unable, Gina’s greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother to her blended family, being part of a huge family with cousins all over the USA, and sharing many good talks with family and friends. Gina especially was blessed with the love of many special friends who kept her going in the end. After graduating from GCHS in 1985, Gina graduated with honors from UT Knoxville with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing. She spend 26 years working in various areas of nursing specialties. She is best known in Giles County as an LPN Instructor at TN College of Applied Technology. She had a passion for teaching the classroom and clinical setting that touched many lives. Gina is also known for working many years as a school nurse. She was well loved by students, faculty, and staff at GCHS and SES. She retired from SES in 2013 so she could focus on what was most important, her family and her health. Other interests and activities Gina enjoyed were being an active part of STARR theater with her youngest son for several years and being a member of the Emmaus Community. Retirement allowed Gina time to avidly study the Bible. She spent the last years of her life learning as much as she could about our Lord and discussing it as often as opportunities allowed. She also enjoyed reading a wide genre of literary works and collecting coins.
Gina is survived by her husband Jon; two sisters Tana (Dwight) Harris and Jennifer Tidwell both of Pulaski; six children Alicia Harrison and Travis Harrison of Florence, AL, Robyn Harrison Barge and Dean Harrison of Lewisburg, TN, Cade Harrison of Orlando, FL, and bonus son Cody Mills of Mississippi. Surviving grandchildren are Haley Harrison, Hayden Harrison, Zoie Harrison, Anthony Barge, Conner Harrison, and Lorelei Barge.
Gina was preceded in death by her parents Sam and Ruth (Baxter) Tidwell; siblings Charles Henry Knox, William Roy Holley, Terry Lane Colvett, James Buster Holley, and Catherine Carla Reynolds.
