
Della Mae “Squeaky” Young of Pulaski was born January 14, 1946 in Pulaski, TN to the late Howard Patterson and the late Della Patterson Robertson. She departed this life surrounded by loved ones on October 9, 2025. Due to her stepfather, the late Robert A. Robertson’s position in the Air Force, she was able to attend high school in Japan. She would go on to complete high school back in the United States at Bridgeforth High School in Pulaski, TN and graduate in 1963. In May of 1968, at the age of 25, she became a Daughter Elk of the Mattie Bridgeforth Temple #1120. This organization would become an integral part of her life. She went on to serve in many positions including Daughter Ruler and Financial Secretary. She was also awarded her State and Grand honors.
Della was an amazing cook. She showed her love for others through her cooking. She served as Chairman of the Food Committee at St. Elizabeth’s Primitive Baptist Church where she was a faithful member for countless years. She also worked for 20 plus years with Valley Food Services at Martin Methodist College. She was beloved by many of the students and faculty alike. Her talents in the kitchen will live on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Della is preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, two daughters, Angela Young and Teresa Ann Williams, also two great-grandchildren Emilio Cruz-Moody and Honor Leilani Rogers.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters Amy(John) Moody and Lennita(Roshad)Tate, her grandchildren Asha Moody, Ariel(Cesar)Mendez, Tarica Fowler, Talesa Brown, Kreshia Hayes, Tela Reynolds, Rakeem Reynolds, Xavier Tate, 11 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and Special Friend Nathan Reed.
Public viewing for Della Mae ‘Squeaky” Young will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 1:00pm until 4:00pm at Jordan Funeral Home, 327 Mill Street, Pulaski, Tennessee.
Funeral service will be Sunday, October 19, 2025 beginning with visitation at 2:00pm and the 3:00pm service immediately following at The Greater Richland Creek Missionary Baptist Association-Central Building, 1095 Bledsoe Road, Pulaski, Tennessee.
Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
