Anthony “Tony” Wray Armstrong passed away Tuesday evening, October 28, 2025, at his home in Giles County surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Tiptonville, TN on March 2, 1939, and passed away at 86 years old. Tony obtained a Doctorate degree from the University of Tennessee. He was a retired nuclear physicist where he worked in Oak Ridge and San Diego for SAIC. Tony loved agriculture and farming, photography, scuba diving, and especially traveling. He was also an avid Tennessee football fan.
A graveside service will be at 2:30pm on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at Maplewood Cemetery in Pulaski, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David Wray and Winnie Oneida Brent Armstrong. His wife Theresa Armstrong along with his son-in-law Joseph Scott Hardin and sister, Carol Black.
He is survived by, Son, Dr. Mark & Jessica Armstrong of Martin, Tennessee, Daughter, Susan A. Hardin of Brentwood, Tennessee,
Grandchildren, Martha Tatum Hardin & Caleb Gibson, Joseph Fate & Elizabeth Hardin, Sanders Wray Hardin, Toni Armstrong and Giovanni DeAngelis, Tolar Armstrong, and Ellie Mae Armstrong, Brother, Michael Armstrong of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.
