    With deep sadness, the family announces the passing of Mrs. Angeta Hughes Andersen, age 92 on September 20, 2025. Born October 29th, 1932, she was preceded in death by husband First Lt. Roy Garland Evans, (married 1956-1958) and husband Major Robert (Bob) Andersen (married 1960-2016), her parents Floyd and Julia Hughes, her brother Caroll Hughes and sister Majorie Dunnavant.

    She is survived by her daughters Kathy Andersen, Julia Whitson (Carl) and Rebecca Stokes, brother Alvin Hughes, sister-in-law Nell Evans Logan, grandchildren Rena Salancy (Michael) and Levi Whitson, and great-grandchildren Lucy Whitson, Andersen Salancy, and Maximilian Salancy.

    Born and raised in Pulaski Tennessee, Angeta attended Martin College, and taught at several small schools in Giles County before marrying and moving around the US and Europe.

    After Bob’s retirement from the USAF in 1972, they settled down in Giles County. Angeta served as the Director of Christian Education at Pulaski FUMC for 10 years and was instrumental in creating The Free & Easy Singers, a youth group that performed contemporary Christian music all over the United States.
    Next, Angeta was chairman of the Giles County Bicentennial. She eventually returned to teaching at Richland Schools. While there, she didn’t just teach—she touched the lives of many students and their families.

    Visitation will be held Saturday, October 11th , 10-11am at First United Methodist Church with service to follow at 12:00 noon.

    In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of Pulaski, Giles County Public Library or The Kedron Cemetery Fund.
