Shirley Geneva Wright Clanton

Mrs. Shirley Geneva Wright Clanton, 88, resident of Pulaski, passed away on Thursday, October
22, 2026, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, Tennessee.
Mrs. Shirley Clanton was born on April 12, 1938, at her childhood home in Cherokee, Alabama.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and
friend who loved spending time with her family. She is preceded in death by her parents,
Thomas Clyde Wright, Sr. and Annie Jewel Wright, her sister, Francis Bailey, and her two
brothers, Thomas Clyde Wright, Jr. and Nelson Leroy Wright and her loving husband, George
Allen Clanton.
She attended high school at Deshler High School. She married the love of her life, George Allen
Clanton, on June 18, 1955. They moved to Columbia Tennessee in 1957. She was a Jehovah’s
Witness and enjoyed sharing the Bible teachings with others throughout her life. She
encouraged others to read their Bible and to learn more about the promises from Jehovah for
the future. She taught her children how important it was to love Jehovah and live a life with
good morals. She knew that if they lived by Bible standards, they would have a happier life and
their family would benefit, also. She loved making the grandchildren quilts, sewing, gardening,
and her beautiful plants. She enjoyed going with her husband and children on family vacations
to the mountains, beach and the lake. She would even go on motorcycle trips with her husband
because she knew how much he loved it.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. on November 7,
2026 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 922 E. College St., Pulaski, TN 38478, with
Tim Weaver officiating
Memorial donations may be made to Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of New York, Inc.

Survivors include her children, Sheree Prince (James), George Allen Clanton (Donna), Beverly
Johnson (Derek), David Clanton (Libby), Phillip Clanton (Pam), and Shawn Clanton (Cassie);
Grandchildren, Honey Williams, Tiffany Kasmarcik, Bethany Thacker, Ben Clanton, Layla
Thompson, Tessa Johnson, Matthew Clanton, Elizabeth Wimmer, Hunter Clanton, Kayela
Mixon, Kerri Sweeney, Julian Clanton, and Ethan Polk; Also, great-grandchildren and several
great great-grandchildren; and her dear sister in-law, Kathy Wright.
