    Robert Clayton “Clay” Avent, of Brick Church, Tennessee, passed away Saturday afternoon, June 28th, 2025, at his home in Giles County, Tennessee. He was born on May 16th, 1970, in Memphis, Tennessee and was 55 years old.

    Clay was a life-long farrier, blacksmith, and cattleman. He served on the Community Board at First National Bank. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially crappie fishing. Most of all, Clay enjoyed spending time with his family.

    Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 1st, 2025, from 10:00am until 12:00pm at Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory.
    Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 1st, 2025, at 12:00pm in the chapel of Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory.
    A private burial will take place Tuesday evening.

    He was preceded in death by his mother, Jan March along with his grandparents, Virginia and Wade Beckman and Robert and Lela May Avent.

    Wife, Meredith Blackburn Avent of Brick Church, Tennessee. Daughter, Ashlyn Lee Avent (Ryan) Vincion of Lewisburg, Tennessee. Daughter, Allison Kathryn Avent of Nashville, Tennessee. Step-daughter, Elizabeth Laird Jackson of Brick Church, Tennessee. Step-son, Tilden Kash Jackson of Brick Church, Tennessee. Brother, Casey William (Melinda) Avent of Woodbury, Minnesota. Nephew, William Baine Avent of Woodbury, Minnesota. Niece, Anna Kate Avent of Woodbury, Minnesota. Father, Terrance Robert (Sharon) Avent of Hastings, Minnesota. Brother-in-law, James Knox (Stacey) Blackburn V, of Franklin, Tennessee. Father-in-law, James Knox (Jennifer) Blackburn IV of Pulaski, Tennessee. Mother-in-law, Georgann Blackburn of Pulaski, Tennessee. Nephew, James Evan Blackburn of Leonard, Texas. Niece, Alexandra Gail Blackburn of Columbia, Tennessee.
