Elmer Edward Simmons

Elmer Edward Simmons, 75, of Athens, passed away on Thursday, November 13th, 2025, at his residence. Mr. Simmons was born on January 21st, 1950, in Milan, TN, to Elmer and Mevarene (Thornton) Simmons.

Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife, Patricia Simmons; daughter, Lesley Hyatt (Tommy); son, Chad Simmons (Wanda); grandchildren, Madey Simmons, Clay Hyatt, and Lauren Simmons; and sister Rhonda Moore (Larry).

He is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Mevarene Simmons; sisters Debra Simmons, Charlene Schrimsher, and Rita Simmons who was his caregiver for eleven years.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, November 18th, 2025, at 4:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home, with Jeff May and Eddie Littrell officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 18th, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., at funeral home.

Mr. Simmons was a Christian man who loved his wife. He was a big Alabama fan and a hunter. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. Known to be loving and encouraging, he always had a big smile and never met a stranger. His dog, Rosie, and his cat, Sassie, were also well loved by him. Eddie was a member of Sardis Springs Church of Christ.
