Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Sanders

    Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Sanders, age 92, of Murfreesboro, TN, passed away
    Monday, September 7 th , 2026 at NHC Healthcare of Murfreesboro. Betty
    was born on June 9 th , 1934 to the late William A. O’Dell and Edna M. Rocco
    O’Dell in Detroit, MI. Betty worked for many years as one of the partners of
    the Sanders Brothers Restaurant in Sterling Heights, MI. Betty moved to
    Lawrence County in 1971 and worked for many years for Murray Ohio
    before retiring in the late 1980’s. She was a proud member of the American
    Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Betty loved her family dearly and cherished each
    moment that she had to spend with them. She was a loving mother, a
    spoiling grandmother, proud great grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be
    dearly missed. She was of Catholic Faith.
    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving
    husband of 61 years, James Harold “Sandy” Sanders; her beloved uncle,
    Donald Ignatius O’Dell; sons, Ralph Anthony Sanders and Thomas Howard
    Sanders; brother, Anthony O’Dell, and her sister, Mary Louise Schenk.
    She is survived by her children, Margaret Ellen Sanders of Murfreesboro,
    TN, James Harold Sanders Jr. (Connie Sue) of Pittsburgh, PA, and Michael
    Alan Sanders (Ann) of Dimondale, MI; grandchildren, Jennifer James
    (Patrick), Patrick Sanders (Rachel), Margaret Hendrickson (Jacob), and
    Mary Sanders (Porter Mauk); great grandchildren, Katie Ann James, James
    Cye Connor Sanders, Gavin Christopher Thomas Sanders, and Emmett
    Jacob Hendrickson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces,
    and great nephews.
    Visitation for Betty will be held at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home on Friday,
    September 11 th , 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
    The Funeral service will be held at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home on
    Saturday, September 12 th , 2026 beginning at 2:00 p.m.
    Interment will be held at Leoma Cemetery immediately following the
    service.
    Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home is honored and privileged to be handling all
    final arrangements.
