
David Michael Waybright, age 72, of Prospect, TN, passed away on
Tuesday, June 17th , 2025 at his home in Prospect.
Dave was born on June 22nd , 1952 to the late Jessie Luke Waybright and Rhoda Baxter McCartney
in Butler, PA. He graduated from Lakeview High School in Stoneboro, PA in
the class of 1970. Dave would marry the love of his life, Jennifer Briggs, in
1976. Dave was an educator, beginning his working career as an Art
Teacher at Redbird Missionary School in Beverly, KY, where he was
awarded Honorary Kentucky Colonel. He would go on to teach at Wilkinson
Junior High in Middleburg, FL as well as Orange Park High School in
Orange Park, FL. After obtaining his Master’s Degree, he worked for many
years as an Art Professor at The University of North Florida and Martin-
Methodist College in Pulaski. Dave was also the Pastor at Prospect
Southern Methodist Church in Prospect. In his spare time, he enjoyed
woodworking, making saw dust at his sawmill, finding projects for his skid-
steer, “Boomer”, building hand crafted furniture, leading bible study,
attending and leading the Saturday 5 A.M. Coffee Club, and spending time
with his loving family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William
Waybright, and his sister, Cynthia Waybright Briggs.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Jenny Waybright; children,
Joy Waybright, Jonathan Waybright, Jaron Waybright (Shaynie), Jeffrey
Waybright (Ania); grandchildren, Jake, Gracie, Alayna, Faith, Ava, Ethan,
Luke, Naia, London, Ella, Benny, Andrew, Willow, Esther, and Roen; great
granddaughter, Alana; brother, Tom Waybright of Caladonia, Ohio; several
nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held at Prospect Southern Methodist Church in Prospect,
TN on Saturday, June 21st , 2025 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
The Funeral Service will be held following the visitation beginning at 1:00
P.M. Pastor Brad Smith and Pastor Bill Holland will be officiating.
Interment will be held at Prospect Cemetery.
