LAWRENCE COUNTY, Tenn. — The Tennessee Highway Patrol has announced a series of sobriety roadside safety checkpoints scheduled across Lawrence County from April through June.
According to officials, checkpoints will be conducted at multiple locations along U.S. Highway 43 and State Route 98 as part of an ongoing effort to reduce impaired driving and improve roadway safety.
Scheduled dates and locations include:
- April 17: U.S. Highway 43 North at mile marker 23.4
- April 24: U.S. Highway 43 South at mile marker 2.9
- May 1: U.S. Highway 43 South at mile marker 2.9
- May 8: State Route 98 at mile marker 5.5
- May 15: U.S. Highway 43 North at mile marker 23.4
- May 22: U.S. Highway 43 South at mile marker 2.9
- May 29: State Route 98 at mile marker 5.5
- June 5: U.S. Highway 43 South at mile marker 2.9
- June 12: U.S. Highway 43 North at mile marker 23.4
- June 19: State Route 98 at mile marker 5.5
- June 26: U.S. Highway 43 South at mile marker 2.9
Troopers will be evaluating drivers for signs of alcohol or drug impairment and may also address other violations observed during the checkpoints.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol says these highly visible enforcement efforts are designed to deter impaired driving, which remains a leading cause of serious crashes nationwide.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, avoid driving under the influence, and always make safe travel decisions.
