GILES COUNTY, Tenn. - Authorities have identified the individual seen on video abandoning a dog at the Giles County Animal Shelter by throwing it over a six-foot fence.
According to shelter officials, the suspect was identified with the help of the Pulaski Police Department, the Giles County Sheriff’s Department, and tips from the public following the release of surveillance footage earlier this week.
The video, which was widely circulated on social media, showed a person lifting and tossing a dog into the shelter’s outdoor pen. The incident sparked immediate concern from the community and led to a formal investigation.
The dog involved, now named Buddy, is currently in the care of shelter staff. Officials say he is recovering well, receiving proper nutrition and attention, and is described as “incredibly sweet.”
The shelter is now seeking a foster home where Buddy can continue his recovery in a peaceful environment.
Law enforcement agencies are continuing their investigation and have not yet released the suspect’s identity.
