PULASKI, Tenn. — As the nation prepares to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, STAAR Theatre is calling on men and boys to take part in a special production of the musical 1776.
Auditions will be held during the first week of February, with performances scheduled for the first two weeks of May. The musical features a cast of 27 men and only two women, making male participation essential to the success of the production.
Open to performers ages 13 through adult, 1776 includes both singing and non-singing roles, welcoming experienced actors and newcomers alike. The show follows John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson as they work to unite the Second Continental Congress and secure independence from Great Britain.
Auditions will take place Thursday, February 5, beginning at 6 p.m., and Saturday, February 7, beginning at 2 p.m., at STAAR Theatre, located at 105 North First Street in Pulaski. Auditioners should choose one date and plan to attend the full session.
Rehearsals will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays, with performances scheduled for May 1–3 and May 8–10. Production fees are $50 per participant with a $75 family cap, and scholarships are available.
More information and audition materials are available at staartheatre.org/1776-auditions or by calling 931-371-0955.
