PRESS RELEASE:
Pulaski, TN (October 8, 2025) – Southern Tennessee Regional Health System – Pulaski (STRHS-Pulaski) today announced plans for an $11 million renovation and expansion of the facility’s emergency department (ED). The project is made possible by an investment by the hospital’s parent company Lifepoint Health, and the design and construction plans for the new ED will be unveiled during a celebratory groundbreaking event early next year.
“This new, modern emergency department is a major investment in our ongoing efforts to advance our mission of making communities healthier and expand access to critical healthcare services for Giles County,” said STRHS-Pulaski CEO Jason Fugleberg. “We are excited to embark on this new project and look forward to sharing more with the community as we finalize the design and construction plans in the coming months.”
The project will include a complete renovation of our emergency department to improve patient and staff flow, enhance patient experience and allow for additional growth in the future. The plans include:
Relocation of the ED to the front of the hospital
Expanded footprint with the addition of 4624 square feet, nearly doubling the size of the ED
Increased bed capacity from seven (7) to eleven (11) beds with observation/holding rooms, bariatric and trauma rooms
$1+ million in medical equipment upgrades
Our dedicated team of emergency department providers and staff work above and beyond each and every day to deliver life-saving care to our neighbors, family members and friends,” said STRHS-Pulaski’s ED Medical Director Goran Antic, MD. “This new, state-of-the-art facility will be better suited to meet the growing needs of our community and will enable our team to provide an even higher level of care to those we serve.”
STRHS-Pulaski, which is an accredited chest pain center, is the sole provider of emergency services in Giles County, and its emergency department treats more than 12,000 patients each year.
“Lifepoint Health is proud to make this investment in Pulaski as we work to enhance access to care across the region,” said William Haugh, president of Lifepoint Health’s Central Division, of which STRHS-Pulaski is a part. “Expanding this emergency department illustrates how deeply we care for this community and how we are always looking for ways to better serve the healthcare needs of Giles County and the surrounding region."
