GILES COUNTY, Tenn. -The Giles County Sheriff’s Office has announced the newest members of its team - Amy, Lena, and Zeva, three certified emotional support dogs now trained and ready to serve local schools.
The dogs recently completed a thirteen-week training program and will be assigned to campuses across Giles County in partnership with the Giles County School System. Their role is to provide comfort and emotional support to students and staff.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, emotional support dogs can help reduce anxiety, minimize behavioral incidents, and even improve school attendance.
The Sheriff’s Office also extended special thanks to Murrey Chevrolet and Pulaski Tractor Supply Co. store #479 for helping launch the program.
Community members who wish to support the initiative can make donations payable to the Giles County Sheriff’s Office, noting “Emotional Support Dog Program” in the memo line. Donations may be mailed or dropped off directly at the Sheriff’s Office.
