GILES COUNTY, Tenn. — The Giles County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents to be on alert for a recent phone scam targeting local families.
Scammers are reportedly calling individuals and pretending to be from the Sheriff’s Office. In the calls, the scammers claim that a loved one has been arrested and that paying a specific amount of money will secure their release.
Authorities want residents to know this is not true. The Sheriff’s Office will never call to request or accept money over the phone for any reason.
Anyone who receives a suspicious call is urged to hang up immediately and report it to the Giles County Sheriff’s Office.
