This from the Giles County Sheriff's Office...
Recently, the Giles County Sheriff’s Office became aware of disturbing allegations circulating on social media involving a veteran Giles County Deputy Sheriff and the euthanization of two dogs.
“I am as disturbed as you are to hear these allegations involving the conduct of a Giles County Deputy. I have placed the involved deputy on administrative leave and requested that the District Attorney’s Office launch an immediate investigation into this matter,” said Sheriff Joe Purvis.
The Giles County Sheriff’s Office takes the treatment of animals and all allegations of potential misconduct seriously. The decision to place the deputy on administrative leave and request an independent investigation reflects the seriousness with which these allegations are being treated.
“We understand that the public has questions and concerns about what occurred. Because this matter is now under investigation, I cannot comment on every detail. However, I will provide additional information when I am able to do so without compromising the integrity of the investigation,” Sheriff Purvis said.
The Sheriff’s Office is committed to accountability, transparency and doing what is right for our community and everyone involved. We ask the public to allow the investigative process to take place and to refrain from drawing conclusions until the investigation is complete.
Anyone with information or concerns regarding potential misconduct by an employee of the Giles County Sheriff’s Office is encouraged to contact our office.
