GILES COUNTY, Tenn. - During Thursday night’s Giles County Commission meeting, officials voted to send the proposed Fiscal Year 2025–2026 budget back to the Budget Committee for revisions. A special work session and committee meeting to address those changes has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 3, at the Giles County Courthouse.

Once revisions are complete, residents will have two opportunities to provide public feedback before the final vote is taken.

A public hearing will be dedicated to budget discussions. Any citizen wishing to speak must submit a written request at least five days before the hearing. Requests may be submitted via email to the County Executive or Budget Office, or dropped off in person at the courthouse. A date for this hearing has not been announced.

A few days after the public hearing, the full commission will meet to vote on the revised budget. Members of the public are welcome to speak at this meeting without prior notice. The final vote is expected to take place during this session.

Both meetings will be held at the Giles County Courthouse. Dates and times will be announced publicly as they are confirmed.

Also decided at Thursday’s meeting was the continuation of the commission’s split-time meeting schedule. Commissioners voted to maintain the current seasonal format: Summer Months: Meetings will begin at 5:00 p.m. Winter Months: Meetings will be held at 9:00 a.m.
