GILES COUNTY, Tenn. - The Giles County Sheriff's Department is preparing for this weekend's events in Pulaski. On June 14th, many people are expected to be in downtown Pulaski during the SunDrop festival. Also happening on Saturday is a "No Kings" demonstration. It will be held in Pleasant Run Park. The demonstration is part of a national protest against President Donald Trump's administration.
South Central TN Indivisible is the group organizing the demonstration. Organizers tell Sheriff Joe Purvis they expect it to be a peaceful event.
Sheriff Purvis says he has spoken with state and federal law enforcement regarding the No Kings demonstration and that there is no credible threat to safety at this time.
The Sheriff's office is urging the public to exercise the right to protest in a peaceful manner. Law enforcement will be on hand at the event.
