GILES COUNTY, Tenn. — Local businesses and the University of Tennessee Southern are responding after a video containing offensive language began circulating on social media.
In a statement, UT Southern said it is aware of the video, which includes language that does not reflect the values of its campus community.
“The university is reviewing the matter through the appropriate institutional process and in alignment with applicable policies and laws,” the statement read.
Two local businesses have also addressed the situation.
Rusty Spur Steakhouse confirmed that the individual seen in the video is no longer associated with the restaurant.
Meanwhile, Lew Lew’s said it became aware of what it described as a “horrific video” involving a former employee.
“The language and behavior shown are unacceptable,” the business stated, adding that the employee was terminated immediately.
