STAAR Theatre One-Play-Act Winners

The STAAR Theatre invited writers from across the country to share stories inspired by the place they call home.

More than 50 original plays from writers in 10 states were submitted for STAAR Theatre’s inaugural One-Act Play Contest. Writers of all ages and experience levels were invited to participate, with only one requirement: Each play had to be set in the South.

The submissions included comedy, history, drama, fantasy and an assortment of stories.

STAAR Theatre’s panel of judges selected nine finalists. Their plays will be read by talented local actors during three public sessions Saturday, August 15th, at STAAR Theatre in Pulaski.

The Junior Division readings will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The first group of Adult Division finalists will be presented from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Following a lunch break, the remaining Adult Division readings will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m.
