State Representative Clay Doggett of Pulaski, has secured $500,000 in state funding for the Giles County Water Alliance.
The funding will be used to conduct a study to find an additional source of quality drinking water and to strengthen Giles County's infrastructure.
A countywide study will determine whether a new water source is warranted and identify and permit a new source, if necessary.
The Giles County Water Alliance is a partnership between local water utilities, the Giles County Commission and the mayors of Ardmore and Lynnville, providing a forum for information sharing and collaboration.
The appropriated funds are part of a $58.3 billion balanced budget passed by lawmakers in April.
Lawmakers also made significant investments in rural development, including $15 million for the Rural Development Fund for business development and infrastructure.
State Representative Clay Doggett represents District 70 in the Tennessee House of Representatives, which includes Giles and part of Lawrence and Lincoln counties.
