This Public Service Announcement from the Giles County Sheriff's Office...
Recently, there have been two reported incidents involving foxes displaying behavior consistent with rabies or distemper. Fortunately, no individuals were bitten or scratched during these encounters. However, we would like to remind residents to use caution around wild animals that appear sick, disoriented, or unusually aggressive.
If you encounter a wild animal exhibiting abnormal behavior, please do not approach or attempt to handle it. Instead, contact the Giles County Animal Control Officer by calling Giles E-911 at 931-363-3505 to report the animal.
If you or your pet are ever bitten or scratched by a wild animal, seek medical or veterinary attention immediately.
