With more extreme heat expected over the next several days, Giles County Office of Emergency Management, in conjunction with our severe weather shelter partners, will be opening temporary cooling shelters as needed throughout Giles County.
If you or someone you know needs a cool place to get out of the heat, please don’t hesitate to reach out. These cooling shelters are intended to provide temporary relief from the heat and are not intended to serve as long-term accommodations.
Call the Giles County E-911 Center at 931-363-0911 and request that someone from the Giles County Office of Emergency Management contact you about a cooling shelter.
Dispatchers will...Get your information, Determine which available shelter is closest to you, and Arrange for a volunteer to meet you at the shelter.
PLEASE BE PATIENT...The office has a limited number of paid staff and relies heavily on the amazing volunteers to make these resources available. It may take a few minutes to return your call and get someone to the shelter.
