This note from the Giles County Sheriff's Department...
As many of Giles County Residents have seen, the Giles County Sheriff's Department recently began a project utilizing inmate work crews to turn downed trees into firewood. The goal is to provide firewood to residents in need to help heat their homes during the colder months.
While the Giles County Sheriff's Department is unable to deliver the wood, anyone who may benefit from this program is encouraged to contact Shelby Franklin at 931-363-3505 to schedule a time for pickup.
Unfortunately, the Giles County Sheriff's Department understands that some individuals may attempt to take advantage of programs such as this. Anyone found taking wood for the purpose of reselling it will no longer be permitted to participate in the program.
We would also like to "Thank" those who generously donated and helped make this program possible. If you are interested in supporting or donating to the program, please contact Shelby Franklin at the Giles County Sheriff’s Office @ 931-363-3505.
