Automaker Ford is recalling nearly 388,000 of its vehicles over an issue with its second-row seats that carries an injury risk.

The recall affects 2020 to 2026 Ford Explorer vehicles, and 2020 to 2027 Aviator Vehicles.

In its recall notice, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the seats have a defect that could cause them to unlatch, tip or slide unexpectedly, which could lead to a person not being restrained properly in the event of a crash.

As of June 16, Ford’s Critical Concern Review Group identified 14 reports of the second-row seat moving while the vehicle was in drive.

Owners who have the recalled vehicles can take it to the dealership where they will replace the defective part, called a bezel, free of charge.

Notification letters should go out to owners of the effected vehicles starting Monday, July 27th.
