A well known scam has resurfaced in the Tennessee Valley, people have been receiving phone calls from someone pretending to be a deputy.

The scammer tells people they have a warrant and that they can pay it off over the phone.

Sometimes the scammer will look up and actually get an individual’s name that actually works for the Sheriff’s office and claim to be them

Police or Sheriff’s Offices will never call you about a warrant or even ask for any payment over the phone.

Authorities say this is a common scam that really impacts elderly people. If you’re a victim of this scam, or have been called, contact your local authorities as soon as possible.
