Fred Newton Coffey Jr., age 82 of Pulaski passed away September 5, 2021. He was born in Giles County, Tennessee December 5, 1938 to Fred Newton and Dora Virginia Coffey. He was the second born of ten children; his parents and two siblings (James Thomas, Solon) preceded him.
Fred began his Christian journey as a Deacon with Pilgrim Valley Baptist Church, IL serving until he moved to Pulaski, in 2014. Joining his parents church Old Zion UPB Church he served as Deacon until his health would no longer allow.
Through his union with Agnes Brown, his daughter Cassandra was born. Fred left Pulaski shortly after graduating from BridgeForth High school, in 1958. His journey took him to Chicago, IL. There he found his passion in a job he held for over 47years. Working in the steel mill as a welder mechanic where he was revered for his ability to fix and repair equipment with speed and accuracy. He served as a union representive for USW, for a short period he worked as a Foreman. Fred loved working with his hands, he believed in helping his neighbors, friends and of course family. Always keeping the values he was taught as a young man helped him live a productive life. Fred met his wife Valerie in 1987 and in 1989 they were married. Fred was funny, loving, kind, he was that guy that everybody remembered and liked. Due to health issues Fred retired and moved back to Pulaski, TN. His health continued to decline, but he was a fighter.

In his home going, he leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of (30 plus years), Valerie C. Coffey; his daughter Cassandra Coffey, Calumet City, IL; Granddaughters Kara and Kaliala Coffey, both of IL. Sister Ada(John) Nelson, Goodspring, TN; Brothers: Donald Easley (Valerie) Coffey, Miami, FL; Michael (Pamela)Coffey, San Diego, CA.; Robert Eugene(Evelyn)Coffey, Terry (Danielle) Coffey, Alfred T. Coffey, Kenneth Dale(Shelia) Coffey, Dennis(Vivian)Nelson all of Pulaski. Mother in law Lou Edna Rush of IL, Five sister in laws Ruth Ann Coffey, Pulaski TN, Barbara Coffey, Indianapolis, IN; Veronica Campbell, Dalton, IL; Delores Campbell, Lafayette, IN; Sheryl (Duane) Jones Calumet City, IL. Two Brothers in Laws Lawrence (Linda) Campbell Chicago, IL; Larry (Akilah) Campbell Springfield, MO. One Aunt Lavada DeSalles, CA. Two Best friends Larry (Pat) Brewer, Tommy Johnston. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends and coworkers.

Public viewing for Deacon Fred Newton Coffey Jr. will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021 from 12 noon until 5:00p.m. at Jordan Funeral Home, 327 Mill Street, Pulaski, Tennessee. Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 at The Greater Richland Creek Missionary Baptist Association beginning with visitation from 12noon until 1:00p.m. and the funeral service immediately following.
Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
Social distancing and wearing of masks is strongly encouraged. Temperature screening will be conducted.
