Sidney Burgess Ralston, 92, retired Heavy Equipment Operator for Union Carbide, farmer, and life-long resident of Lynnville, died Friday, September 16, 2022 at his residence.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Brother N.J. Pope officiating. Burial will follow in Lynnwood Cemetery with military honors provided by Giles County Honor Guard. The family will visit with friends Monday from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Born March 12, 1930 in Giles County, he was the son of the late Whitfield Ralston and the late Mary Olene Wells Ralston. He was a 1950 graduate of Jones High School in Lynnville. Mr. Ralston served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. A family oriented man, he loved his family. Mr. Ralston enjoyed farming, raising cattle, flying, going to the gym, playing guitar and the harmonica. He was a member of Olivet United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, whom he married August 20, 1955, Nancy Carolyn Steele Ralston of Lynnville; children, Stanley (Ruth Ann) Ralston, Amy (Danny) Arnold, Kerry Ralston, Beverly (Bill) Franklin, Cindy Ralston all of Lynnville; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents that reared him, Sam and Drucilla Sands Ralston.

Active pallbearers will be Benji Ralston, Brad Arnold, Blake Arnold, Justin Gordon, Colby Hay, and Taylor Hay. Honorary pallbearers include Gary Christopher, Tim Newton, Tommy Young, Ken White, Shane Hunter, and Richard Sulcer.
