Mike Blakely, once the longest serving sheriff in Alabama, will remain behind bars for now, as the State of Alabama denied his parole.

The parole board hearing was filled with dozens of Blakely supporters, but the attorney general’s office spoke, opposing release of the longtime Sheriff from North Alabama.

Blakely was the elected sheriff of Limestone County nearly four decades and served until he was convicted of two felony charges of theft and abuse of power August 2nd, 2021.
