Giles County High School students recently participated in  Columbia State Community College’s annual high school competition.

GCHS students placing in Algebra 1 was first place Matthew Gingerich, second Kylie Hendricks, third Landon Hill, fourth Adeline Rivera, eighth Webb Stewart and ninth Sawyer Phillips.

 

In Geometry was sixth place Hunter Dunavant, and seventh went to  Arilynn Steele.  

 

Cody Edison place seventh in Algebra 2.

The competition involved students from 11 southern Middle Tennessee high schools competing in 18 different academic areas, including creative writing, vocal performance, algebra and sociology.

According to Daniel Kelley, Columbia State associate professor of English, this year’s High School Competition was a huge success.

Dating back to the 1980s, the competition continues to focus on humanities disciplines and has since added math components.
