Giles County Fire and Rescue responded to three fires in a very short time span last night.

Around 8 p.m., a call to a home in the Rose Hill community resulted in the fire being out when firefighters arrived, but Chief Cory Medley said members stayed to make sure the fire was out. A mattress had been on fire and Medley said there was a lot of smoke, which firefighters helped clear out of the residence.

About 15 minutes later, another fire call sent GCF&R to a residence at 6536, Lot 47 on Campbellsville Pike. Medley said it was a stove that had caught fire, but that fire, also, was out before firefighters arrived. As a precaution, however, the stove was removed from the residence.

A third fire a short time later at 1617 Jackson Drive turned out to be a controlled burn, Medley said.
