A Giles County middle school was in lock down  Tuesday morning after staff heard gun fire in the area.

According to Sheriff Kyle Helton, Bridge Forth Middle School was in lock down for over an hour during investigation but nothing was ever found.

Authorities reported they wanted to use extra precautions and also were in contact with School Director Phillip Wright during the investigation.

Helton said the shots believe to be from the Ragsdale Lane area and extra police were on the scene during and after school.

The area was secured by Pulaski Police and the Giles County Sheriff's Department.
