Investigators in Giles County have identified the man killed Monday morning when a log fell from a freight truck and landed on the car he was driving.

The incident happened around 7:30 a.m. on Columbia Highway at Old Campbellsville Road, north of Pulaski.

According to a report from Tennessee Highway Patrol, the freight truck was driving northbound on Columbia Highway when the logs shifted causing the trailer it was hauling to turn over.

When the logs fell from the truck, at least one log hit a car driven by Robert Lloyd, a 60-year-old man from Columbia, the report states. Lloyd was killed.

THP said another car hit a log that was in the roadway injuring the driver.

The driver of the freight truck was also injured, but investigators have not discussed the extent of the injuries.

The crash report states the driver of the freight truck, a 48-year-old man from Cornersville, was given an undisclosed citation.

Tennessee Highway Patrol will continue to investigate the incident.
