Giles County Executive Melissa Green informed the commission last week that efforts continue to bring development along exits on Interstate 65.
According to Greene, she met with Columbia officials recently and the city has extended utility service to subdivisions and other development along the route of utility lines on Exit 46, which helped pay for the cost of the extensions.
Greene told the commissioners Giles County was successful applying for an extension of the waste water treatment permit from the state for a possible plant on Exit 14.
She reported there were signs of possible development interest on Exit 14 after being asked for copies of the proposed plans of a sewage treatment plant at the location.
