The Giles County School Board's next monthly meeting will be February 7,  where they are schedule to vote on a school bus policy allowing drivers to leave students who have been removed from a bus.

The board passed first reading, but new changes require to pass first reading again.

School's director Phillip Wright told members during a meeting recently that the policy allows a bus driver to leave a student who presents danger to students, drivers or school system property .

The policy also requires bus drivers to contact the school garage as soon as possible if a student is left on the road.

A student has never been left on side of the road Wright noted, but we need this in our policy for extreme situations.

Wright  said each driver has a radio and also goes through training on how to handle disruptive students adding that if a student is removed from a bus the driver will stay with student unless they remain a danger to other students.
