Tennessee Highway Patrol is asking for help in Giles County and surrounding areas in gathering information on a fatal hit and run involving a pedestrian in Lincoln County.

THP is investigating the discovery of a body in a ditch along Highway 50 near the Lincoln-Moore County line on Tuesday.

According to Lincoln County Sheriff Murray Blackwelder, the body was discovered at approximately 2 p.m. when a Moore County Road Department vehicle was passing by. 

Initial reports indicate the victim was last seen near the area of the crash around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday and the suspect's vehicle is a silver/gray 1998-2002 Lincoln Town Car. The vehicle should have damage to the front passenger side and possible windshield.

The body, which has not yet been identified, is that of a white male, who appears to have been struck by a vehicle, said the sheriff, noting that Lincoln County authorities responded to the call initially and then called in THP.
