The opening of Giles County's first CBD store has some local officials looking at what they feel may become an issue in the school system.

School Superintendent Phillip Wright advised one of the concerns is the level of THC in the Cannabidiol products and their affects on students.

CBD is supposed to have less than .3 percent THC,  which is the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana.

Giles County Sheriff Kyle Helton expressed concern as to how the level of THC would be regulated and the lack of age restrictions on buying the products.

Both Wright and Helton are looking at current school district rules as they leave Hemp and CBD  in a gray area with no model from the Tennessee School Boards Association.

Wright advised it would be at least two months before any policy changes would be in writing and will require another two readings by the District School Board.
