Columbia walking horse Gen A’Mighty was named World Grand Champion at the 80th annual Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration Saturday.

The horse was the first champion from Columbia since the early 1990’s. It was also the fourth world grand championship won by the horse’s trainer and rider, Jimmy McConnell of Shelbyville, and ties him with the late Billy Gray of Shelbyville as having the most grand champion wins with different horses.

The horse’s owner, Mike Floyd, is a local contractor with Floyd & Floyd Contractors and a longtime horse enthusiast.
