The South Central Tn Development District’s Long Term Care Ombudsman program advocates for rights of residents in nursing homes, assisted living facilities and homes for the aged in the South Central 13 county district. 

With over 60 long term care facilities in this district the program is in need of Volunteers to visit residents,  monitor conditions, report issues to the District Ombudsman on a monthly basis, as well as educate staff, residents, and visitors of the facility about the Ombudsman program and purpose.

The program is hosting a training program September 25th and 26th for persons interested in becoming an Ombudsman Volunteer.  Applicants must pass a background check and attend a 2 day training session in order to be a part of this program.  The training will be held at the South Central Tn Development District Office at 101 SamWatkins Blvd. in Mt. Pleasant.
