Threat Shuts Down Ardmore Bank
Posted on February 27, 2013

A threat, along with a ransom note, shut down Peoples State Bank in Ardmore early Tuesday morning.

Ardmore Police Chief David Whitt said an employee arrived at the bank and found a note with a gel-like film on the back of it. The note said the employee had been poisoned and the individual/s responsible wanted money in exchange for an antidote.

The Giles County Emergency Management Agency has done a preliminary investigation, sending samples to Nashville. Also investigating the incident are the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Department of Homeland Security.

Whitt said that as far as he knew, there was nothing to the threat, but to be on the safe side they sent samples to a lab to find out what it is.

Anyone with any information on this incident is urged to contact the Ardmore Police Department at 256-423-2146.
