Mayor and Aldermen Met, Will Table Beer Ordinance Change
Posted on February 12, 2013

The Pulaski Board of Mayor and Aldermen met this afternoon.

J.B. Smith III, representing First Presbyterian Church, asked the board to table their discussion of the motion to amend the beer ordinance until the church has the chance to vote on the issue on February 24. Not only would that church be affected by the amended ordinance, but all other churches, schools, nursing homes, and the hospital would be as well. Mayor Pat Ford said that Ritchie Rose, who had asked that the ordinance be amended so that he can build his convenience store on the site of the old Bennett-May building, supported the tabling of the discussion. The board will now discuss the issue at their next meeting.

In addition, the board approved parade permits for Relay for Life, the MMC Student Nurse Organization, Trent Holt 5K, and Giles County Tourism. They authorized the advertising of bids for hay rights at the airport and on the Main Pump Station Project. They also approved, on second reading, amending the municipal code for refuse and trash disposal.

The Pulaski Board of Mayor and Aldermen will next meet in a work session Monday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. at city hall. This meeting is open to the public.
