Doss Supports Office of the Repealer
Posted on February 06, 2013

State Representative Barry Doss has been hard at work in Nashville. Yesterday, he announced that he has thrown his support behind a new measure aimed at cutting the size of Tennessee’s government by creating a new office. Known as the Office of the Repealer, it would be a one-time, four-year position with the sole responsibility of making recommendations to the legislature of areas of government waste, duplication, and out-of-date regulations that should be removed from the law books.

According to Doss, the fewer laws on the books regulating the lives of Tennesseans, the better. Although other programs across the country have said they will reduce the size of government, Doss says this program is guaranteed to achieve that goal.

The Office of the Repealer would take recommendations from the public, basing its decisions on input received from business-owners, educators, activists, and concerned citizens from across the state. Because the office would be paid for with money already approved for a now obsolete staff position, if approved the Office of the Repealer would cost taxpayers no additional money.
