Friday is National Wear Red Day
Posted on January 31, 2013

February is American Heart Month and tomorrow, February 1, has been designated as National Wear Red Day. Maury Regional Medical Center is asking everyone to help them in promoting awareness of cardiovascular disease and showing their support for women’s health by wearing red.

An estimated 43 million women in the United States are affected by heart disease. The disease causes one in three deaths of women each year -that’s one woman killed every minute. Unfortunately, though, only 1 in 5 women knows that heart disease is her greatest health threat.

This is why National Wear Red day is so important. According to Administrative Director of Cardiovascular Services Cathy Malone, increasing awareness about the threat this disease poses is necessary in order to change these alarming statistics.
