Posted on January 29, 2013

Less than 24 hours after being named TranSouth Player of the Week, Jeremy Rodgers received national accolades as he was named Martin Methodist's first-ever NAIA Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending Jan. 27, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Rodgers turned in his best two-game stretch of the season last week for the RedHawks, helping guide the squad to a 2-0 record with TranSouth victories over Mid-Continent (Ky.) University and Life (Ga.) University.

On the week, the senior averaged a double-double, scoring 24.5 points while tracking down 11 rebounds. Rodgers also recorded 2.5 steals and 2.0 blocks in the two RedHawk victories.

The 6-foot-5, 253-pound forward poured in a career-high 27 points and snagged eight rebounds in the RedHawks 84-71 at Mid-Continent on Jan. 24. Rodgers followed up his career night with an equally impressive 22-point, 14-rebound performance in his team’s 69-53 win over Life on Jan. 26. The 14 rebounds marked a career-high for the former Memphis-Fairley HS and Southwest CC standout.
