Fayetteville Native Playing In The Super Bowl
Posted on January 29, 2013

Fayetteville native Lamar Divens, got the chance of a limetime, a trip to professional football's biggest stage, the Super Bowl.

On Christmas Day last year, the defensive lineman got a call from the San Francisco 49’ers that they were in need of a lineman. He’s now going to the 47th annual Super Bowl as the 49'ers will take on the Baltimore Ravens.

Earlier this year, he was signed by the Tennessee Titans but was released on the final day the Titans had to trim their roster to 53 players and turn it in to the league. Divens also spent time with Baltimore. It was there that the connection was made that got him with the 49’ers.

Divens was a member of the 2003 Lincoln County High School Falcon football team. He received “Mr. Football” lineman honors for Division 5A and was named first team All State.

He then went on to play for Vanderbilt and Tennessee State University before being signed by the San Diego Chargers as a free agent in 2008, and later earning a spot with the Ravens.

He’s also spent time in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Houston Texans.
