Notices From Corporate Records Service are a Scam

According to Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett, several businesses are concerned with what appears to be a statewide corporate scam.
Hargett says that around January 22, official-looking notices began appearing in the mailboxes of businesses from the Corporate Records Service, requesting a $125 fee. The trouble is that not only is the fee to file a corporation annual report in Tennessee only $20, the Corporate Records Office does not actually exist.
The mailer appears to be an official document, but Hargett says the company is not on file with his office. He urges corporations to exercise extreme caution before providing this company or any other company that is presenting itself in this manner with their credit card or any other personal information.
