Four Arrested In Gambling Business Posted on January 25, 2013
A cockfighting ring with a shady history has resulted in four arrests in Middle Tennessee. Four people are facing charges in connection with a cockfighting enterprise known as the "Shiloh Club" in Hohenwald, according to the U.S. Attorney's office.
Howard Gay, 55, of Hohenwald, Thomas Hardiman, 64, of Iron City, Walter Wooten, 57, of Leoma, and Phillip Heidekker, 66, of Bon Aqua, were indicted by a federal grand jury last week. The men were each charged with three counts for their participation in the cock fights.
Each suspect is accused of operating an illegal gambling business, conspiring to operate an illegal gambling business and aiding and abetting an animal fighting venture.
According to the indictment, the “Shiloh Club” had been in operation for quite some time and has hosted cock fights every other Saturday between November 2008 and May 2009.
This isn't the first time federal and state authorities have raided the club. In May of 2009, federal and state law enforcement officials executed a federal search warrant, which resulted in more than 200 people being prosecuted for gambling and watching the cock fights.
